Music at St. Andrew's

We are a Silver Music Mark school due to :

- recognition of the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum;
- a strategy for music in place, which provides for all children.

At Heckington St Andrew's we are very proud of our extra curricular music provision, and in fact 48% of our children now take part in some form of extra curricular music.

We are very fortunate to have the services of the Lincolnshire Music Service who provide us with our peripatetic music teachers.  Currently our children are able to have the following instrumental lessons: clarinet, keyboard, piano, flute, trombone, trumpet, violin and double bass.  In addition children can take part in 'ColourStrings', a combination of rythm and pitch lessons taught through games and songs and using a variety of percussion instruments.

We also have a Community Orchestra, made up of both children and adults of all abilities who meet to have fun as well as learning arrangements that are performed at our Music Concert, held in March every year.

We have a KS1 children's choir who sing at the local residential home every Christmas, and a Young Voices Choir who take part in the Young Voices Concert in Sheffield every year.
